DISNEY’S IMAGINATION MOVERS PERFORM MUSIC FOR KIDS AT POUGHKEEPSIE’S CIVIC CENTER THIS FRIDAY

Live from the Idea Warehouse this Friday, November 6 at 4 p.m., Disney presents the Imagination Movers at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie. A high-energy show for the whole family, Imagination Movers feature the multiple talents of Rich Collins, Scott Durbin, Dave Poche and Scott “Smitty” Smith. The blue-suited band dudes sing and dance, brainstorming in lyrics to solve “idea emergencies” in their Idea Warehouse, accompanied with video appearances of Warehouse Mouse – a distant relative of Mickey, perhaps?

The guys landed a 2009 Daytime Entertainment Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Song in the category of Children’s and Animation for their original title “Boing, Cluck Cluck.” The Movers write and perform all the songs on their show, and have built a sizable following by setting educational songs for kids to melodies and rhythms that adults appreciate as well. They’ve sold more than 30,000 copies of their self-produced CDs and DVDs. Their three indie CDs, Good Ideas, Calling All Movers and Eight Feet, along with their grassroots DVD Stir It Up, have won 14 national awards from such groups as the National Association of Parenting Publications and Parents’ Choice. The color-coordinated longtime buddies from New Orleans bounce their way through hits like “Shakable You” and “Can You Do It?”

In September 2008, a 30-minute show featuring Imagination Movers began airing on the Disney Channel’s preschool programming block known as Playhouse Disney. They’ve even performed at the annual Easter Egg Roll on the White House South Lawn.

Doors open for Disney’s Imagination Movers in Mair Hall at 3 p.m. for a 4 p.m. show. Reserved seating ticket prices are $49.50, $39.50 and $19.50. Tickets are on sale at the Civic Center box office, all TicketMaster locations and charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000 or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
