The fifth annual FRosendale will fill Main Street from noon until 5 p.m. this Saturday, December 5 with activities and events spilling out of stores, and local artisans and craft vendors offering their wares. Shop locally for: jewelry, knits, pouches, prints, lotions, clothes, wreaths, pottery and more.
The ever-popular Dog on Fleas will perform at the Rosendale Theatre at 11 a.m. for $5 per person or $12 per family. Once again the Rosendale Theatre will offer families a movie free of charge. This year there will be two screenings of The Polar Express, at 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. In the Redwing Blackbird Theatre, a puppet show called The Toad’s Revenge will play at 2 and 4 p.m.
Other activities include cookie-decorating at the Rosendale Café, goodie giveaways at the Alternative Baker and Red Brick Tavern and a Fondue Fest at the Big Cheese. Free hot chocolate and mugs will be distributed at Town Hall. The Woodcrest community will provide homemade cookies. There will be the Woodcrest Strolling Brass Band to set the holiday tone, free haywagon rides, pictures with Santa (who will be collecting for the Rosendale Food Pantry) and a Celebration of Lights as the Rosendale Library gets lit up for the season, where songs will be performed by High Meadow School students.
And while you’re in the neighborhood, Scarlet Colsen has organized a Local Artists’ Unique Gift and Art Sale in her home just a stone’s throw from the village. On Saturday and Sunday, December 5 and 6 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., shoppers can choose handmade gifts from local artisans including Jennifer Boylan, Erin Domaga, Sam Hack, F. Kosempa, Amelia Medley, Jennifer Millham, Cassandra Quackenbush, Bryan Reynolds, Alex Solmssen, Natasha Tessel, Louie Trochino and Colsen herself. Refreshments will be served, too, with the promise of recession-busting prices – all at 26 Riverview Drive. For directions call (845) 658-9504.
